HERE, THERE, WITHIN

As one of Europe’s most dynamic and creative sectors, fashion shapes the everyday lives of millions of people while embodying European values such as culture, creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship.
With this in mind, the Austrian Fashion Association presents HERE, THERE, WITHIN, a project showcasing works by emerging fashion designers and labels supported through its programs.
HERE, THERE, WITHIN approaches contemporary fashion as a space in which complex identities, cultural references, and shared histories are continuously redefined.
In this context, Austrian fashion emerges as a community of designers connected to Austria by birth, training, or trajectory, whose practices unfold within transnational networks shaped equally by cities such as Antwerp, Berlin, London, Paris, and Vienna. For them, movement and exchange across Europe are not merely a backdrop, but an integral part of how fashion is imagined, designed, sourced, produced, shown, and circulated. Navigating both local and global realities, these designers position fashion as craft, artistic reflection and political medium.
The project unfolds through three interconnected elements: an exhibition, a publication, and an urban poster campaign.
At its core, HERE, THERE, WITHIN unfolds through an exhibition featuring works by Alessandro Santi, Benedikt Simon Salchegger, Dead White Men’s Clothes, Flora Miranda, Florentina Leitner, GATTO, Hao Wu,HISU PARK, Julian Schock, Lore, Matthias Winkler, Sassa Ann van Wyk and Used To Be. It presents garments in staged settings, inviting visitors to experience contemporary fashion as a cultural medium.
The accompanying publication takes the form of a visual journal, offering fragmentary insights into the references, research processes, and inner conversations that inform the designers’ practices.
HERE, THERE, WITHIN further expands into public space through an urban poster campaign across Brussels and Antwerp. Drawing on the visual language of fashion advertising, it reclaims space, visibility and recognition for independent designers in a field dominated by a handful of global conglomerates spanning luxury and fast fashion.
