Rudolf on plantbased dyeing methods and local production

How to fashion

How to Fashion is a project by the Austrian Fashion Association in cooperation with the Vienna Business Agency.

In the sixth episode of the video series HOW TO FASHION, Antonia Maedel, co-founder of the Vienna-based knitwear label rudolf, talks about the connection between design and sustainability, the use of natural fibers and plant-based dyeing methods, local production, and how to consider the product’s entire lifecycle right from the design stage.

rudolf was founded in 2014 by textile designer Antonia Maedel and textile chemist Lisa Mladek. The label creates durable fashion and homewear made from knitwear. The yarns used are made exclusively from natural fibers, and they are almost entirely dyed with plant-based dyes in a dyeing studio in Vienna. The timeless design of the pieces, as well as the materials and local production, reflect the brand’s overarching commitment to sustainability.
