Interview: Christoph Rumpf
Today, fashion designer Christoph Rumpf gives us an insight into his life. In 2019, he was awarded the Grand Prix at the prestigious Hyères Festival, and he now lives and works in Paris.
Christoph Rumpf advocates a new definition of luxury by blending traditional menswear with a modern approach and theatrical details, celebrating both femininity and masculinity equally. For his collections, he uses high-quality fabrics as well as flea market finds and materials from stock inventories.

My name is Christoph Rumpf, and I have been living in Paris since the spring of 2021. I prefer to let others decide what distinguishes my work.

Diana Vreeland is currently featured quite often on my mood boards. It's not just about how she dressed, but her entire worldview. Her interior design, her quotes, her love for fashion and Irving Penn, and the stories she told. She is probably one of the few people I would have trusted blindly.

The first thing I do in the morning after waking up is vacuum. We work in our apartment, and before I eat or brush my teeth, I prepare the studio for the day.

My best discovery so far is a flea market in Vanves, in the south of Paris.

I love it when the collection is photographed for the first time, and I finally get to see which ideas work and which don’t. I hate it when at the end of the day, all I’ve done is answer emails and haven’t gotten to my actual work.

A listening tip I give to my friends is "Cream" by Prince.

In recent years, I was someone who tried to clearly define the future in my mind and set goals. I've stopped doing that now, because it always turns out differently anyway.
