HOW TO FASHION WORKSHOP

The workshop is aimed at independent fashion designers and labels with a focus on, and interest in knitwear and includes, among other topics:

– In-depth insights into the complex world of professional knitwear development
– Introduction to methodological approaches and working practices within the industry
– Process analysis from concept development to finalization
– Practice-oriented segment with collective evaluation of participants’ brought-in designs or textile artefacts

Carolin Lerch is the founder of Studio pelican avenue, a design studio specialised in knitwear design for fashion brands. With a profound technical know-how and a year long experience as a fashion designer for her own brand pelican avenue as well as her numerous collaborations with international brands like Peter Pilotto, Marine Serre, Christian Wijnants, Petar Petrov, etc., her studio is in charge of successful press pieces, commercial bestsellers as well as the creation of knit mood boards and collections range plans.

The workshop offers in-depth insights into the complex world of professional knitwear development and includes an introduction to the methodological approaches of the industry, followed by a detailed overview of production chains. It addresses effective communication strategies with manufacturing partners, including relevant documentation standards. The complete process — from concept to finalization — will be illustrated through concrete case studies.

In the practice-oriented segment, participants’ brought-in design materials or textile artefacts will be collectively evaluated. The workshop is designed for designers with a strong interest in high-quality knitwear development.

This HOW TO FASHION workshop marks the end of a three-part series focusing on the central theme of Futureproof Fashion, with an emphasis on materials, sourcing, and production.
