AFA Windows Takeover

The Austrian Fashion Association invited creatives to apply for a two-month presentation of their work in the AFA storefronts on Lindengasse.

Currently, two photographs from the series Untitled (Unwrapping Studies) are on view in the AFA window display. The work brings together fashion by Wolfgang Perner, worn by Ilija Nestorović, and photography by Fritz Enzo Kargl.

In the images, a garment unfolds directly before the viewer’s eyes. The act of getting dressed becomes visible within a single look; for a brief moment, time appears non-linear and everything happens simultaneously.

This conceptual approach is echoed in the photographic execution, which translates three-dimensional space into a two-dimensional image and, much like a classic cartoon, compresses a sequence of actions into a single moment.

Wolfgang Perner is an Austrian fashion and costume designer and currently studies fashion design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. He works at the intersection of fashion, costume and performance, and has collaborated with institutions such as Theater in der Josefstadt, the Burgtheater and Vereinigte Bühnen Wien.

Fritz Enzo Kargl is a photographer based in Vienna. His practice spans portrait, fashion and performance photography, with a focus on staging, interaction and the performative moment of image-making. He studies Applied Photography at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and regularly collaborates with artists, designers and cultural institutions.

Ilija Nestorović is a designer and fashion student at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Born in Belgrade, he works both as a designer and a model, and has collaborated with various Austrian and international fashion and design labels.
