The film spans from the fabric markets of Lagos, Nigeria, to the embroidery factories of Lustenau, Austria, and explores the historical foundations of European wealth. It is a film about women, power structures and textiles, and about the colonial threads that continue to shape Europe to this day.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with director Katharina Weingartner and independent interdisciplinary curator, creative and cultural producer, and founder of the platform Fashion Africa Now, Beatrace Angut Lorika Oola, in conversation with sociologist, fashion theorist and cultural critic Monica Titton.
