Who are you, what do you do and what drives you?
I am Larissa Falk, a New York City-based fashion designer. Working with my hands with different materials such as textiles, hair, paint, silicon, and knits is what I love. In my childhood, I was already obsessed with touching things, as I used to help out at my parent’s Gasthaus kitchen one of my favorites was mixing Semmelknödel.
What do you love most about your work?
One thing is when I do painterly work, for example, bleaching denim by hand with loud music and quite some speed. I get that adrenaline rush during the process, and if I am happy with the outcome, it gives me the purest pleasure and satisfaction.
What´s the most important thing you are looking for in fashion?
Challenging constructions and identities of clothing and transforming them into a new meaning and aesthetic is what I love about fashion. Clothes can bring us confidence and comfort in our daily lives.
What does a good look look like?
Being truthful to yourself and able to show vulnerability. It means taking care of yourself. It is empowering and will affect others.
Who is your style icon?
I find women I randomly see on the street my fashion icons. They inspire me with their unique sense of fashion, self-confidence, and independence.
What do you hate about fashion?
I hate the celebration of the one genius designer in fashion and too little acknowledgment of everyone involved; making a collection and having a brand are always based on collaborative work; so much work and passion go into the implementation from designers, assistants, technicians, and interns.
What do you wish you had known earlier?
I always knew working in fashion would be hard, and I like to work hard, but maybe it would have been good to know earlier that it takes more patience and endurance than some may picture.
